RUNS. PASS TARGETS. A CHANCE FOR EVERY PLAYER.

A touch tracker for youth flag football coaches

Champion Tracker helps you record who gets the ball and who gets on the field. Keep runs and pass targets visible during the game, so your next play can give a player a needed opportunity.

What counts as a touch?

In Champion Tracker, touches are credited runs and pass targets. An incomplete pass can still count as a target. This gives you a record of intended ball opportunities, rather than counting catches alone or every physical contact with the football.

How to record an offensive play
What happened?RecordWhat it means
A player carried the ballRecord RunOne run and one touch for the selected runner.
A pass went to an intended receiverRecord PassOne pass target and one touch for that player, including an incomplete target.
No player receives a credited run or targetNo TouchThe play contributes to field and sideline counts without adding a player touch.

A center’s snap and a quarterback’s exchange do not automatically add extra touches. A quarterback who is the selected runner can receive a recorded run. Use the same definitions throughout the season and explain them when sharing reports with families.

Track one play at a time

  1. Set your roster and format. Choose 5v5, 6v6, or 7v7 and the players available for the game.
  2. Confirm who is playing. Use the lineup controls to show who is on the field and who is on the sideline.
  3. Record the ball opportunity. Select the runner or pass target and record the play, or choose No Touch.
  4. Check the totals before the next opportunity. Use each player’s touches and field plays to inform your play call and substitutions. Undo or edit a recorded play when a count needs correcting.

Equal field plays can still mean uneven touches

Imagine two players have each played 12 offensive snaps. One has 4 runs or targets; the other has none. A field-play count alone would look balanced. The touch count shows a separate coaching decision: how to create a practiced, realistic opportunity for the player who has not had one.

Champion Tracker keeps offensive and defensive participation alongside the touch totals. Field plays measure appearances, not individual minutes. They help you monitor a rotation; they do not automatically choose it.

Plan a realistic number of ball opportunities

With 10 players and 25 offensive plays that each credit one touch, an even split is 5 players with 3 touches and 5 with 2. If 5 of those plays have no credited touch, you have 20 opportunities: 2 per player. Game pace, possession length, attendance, and your play calls can change the result.

Try your team’s numbers in the Play & Touch Calculator, then use the fair playing time guide to plan field appearances separately. For a starting lineup schedule, use the 6v6 rotation chart.

Review the game with your coaches and families

Review game and season totals to see patterns over time. Champion Tracker also offers a read-only Team Dashboard that coaches can share with families. Explain that a pass target represents an opportunity, not necessarily a completed catch, and consider attendance when comparing season totals.
